Where? What’ll happen? How much? What to bring?
How do I get there?
THE HAMMERSMITH AND CITY LINE IS CLOSED UNTIL SUNDAY 15 AUG
Here is a simple map showing you how to get to the Centre (94 Westbourne Park Villas, W2 5EB) from three nearby tube stations.
You can also get to the Centre by bus – numbers 7 / 28 / 31 / 36 / 70 / 328. To find out if these run anywhere close to you visit the Transport for London site.
We provide Buddhism and meditation resources for the whole of the West of London, and are especially close to Notting Hill, Bayswater, Westbourne Park, Queensway and Paddington.
What will happen?
We try to make our classes relaxed, informal and interactive, and relevant to ordinary people leading ordinary lives. They are led by very experienced meditators. No-one will be wearing robes or other distinctive forms of dress. Our meditation courses and classes do not have any religious content. You do not have to be a Buddhist or become a Buddhist or anything else in order to meditate.
You can meditate sitting on cushions on the floor or on a chair, or even lying on the ground. Sessions of meditation are led through by an experienced teacher and last for twenty minutes or so. These are interspersed with discussions, short presentations and maybe other exercises. There will normally be a break for tea and biscuits half way through the class.
How much does it cost?
For most classes and courses we charge a fee in order to keep the Centre running. For the Saturday morning drop-in meditation, the fee is £8 if you are waged, and £4 if you are not. We rely on your honesty to pay the appropriate amount. If you can’t afford the £4 then please do talk to one of the Centre team and we can try to work something out. The lunchtime meditations are no charge, though donations are very helpful!
What do I need to bring?
A printout of this page is recommended. It will give you a map to get here. Normal clothing is fine for meditation, but preferably not too tight.
