Beginners Buddhism and Meditation Courses
A six-week course teaching simple meditation practice and basic Buddhism. A teaching of the Path as a framework for understanding what Buddhism is about, and how it can be applied in real life. On the September course, we will be using the circle of qualities that the Buddha recommended to his followers: wisdom, confidence, unification of mind, energy, all centering on mindfulness.
- Wednesdays, September 15 – October 20. Led by Ratnaprabha and Khemajoti.

Buddhist Practice Course
Mindfulness and meditation has become a popular modern panacea for all sorts of ailments – anxiety, stress, chronic pain, depression. But what is the original teaching that these are all derived from? What is mindfulness really about? On this course we will be exploring meditation by means of one of the most important teachings of the Buddha, the Satipatthana Sutta, the discourse on the foundations of mindfulness, which elucidates what the Buddha himself calls the direct path to Enlightenment. You need to be familiar with the mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana practices to do this course.
- Thursdays, September 16 – October 21, led by Khemajoti and Jinananda.
Exploring Meditation Course
A course with Paramananda and Tarakarunya designed to take an existing meditation practice deeper. You need to have been doing mindfulness and metta practice for a few weeks at least. This follows on from a newcomers’ course, but you are welcome whether or not you were with us for that. More details here.
- Mondays, Oct 25 – Nov 29. Led by Tarakarunya and Paramananda.
Practical Buddhism Course
A second level course. The teachings and practices of Buddhism presented as an approach to living effectively and awakening one’s mind in the modern world. You need to be familiar with Buddhist meditation: the mindfulness of breathing and the metta bhavana. Each week, a meditation session with further meditation training, followed by teaching and discussion on Buddhist living, the context of mind-training, and facing reality as it is.
- Next course, dates to be announced
